The 14th Human Proteome Organization World Congress 2015

The 14th Human Proteome Organization World Congress 2015 was held in Vancouver, British Columbia from September 27th – 30th, 2015. Building on the success of the preceding Congresses in Sydney, Boston, Yokohama and Madrid, the theme of the 2015 meeting “Translating Proteomics and Allied-Omics to the Clinic” underpinned the need for collaboration and cooperation of individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds.

Vancouver was an exceptional location for the Congress. Held in the Vancouver Convention Centre East Building, delegates were treated to views of the Pacific Ocean and the local mountains– truly a wonderful space for both scientific presentations and the commercial exhibition hall. Our social program highlighted West Coast cuisine, unique culture and arts, all which were combined with the breathtaking natural beauty of Vancouver; one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.

The Sponsorship and Exhibition Sales exceeded expectations and reached record numbers. There was an exciting social program which included a Welcome Reception in which delegates were ‘marched’ from the Plenary Hall to the Exhibit Hall by four actors dressed up as the iconic red Canadian Mounties. The food served included local wines and exquisite canapés, which was highlighted by 10 feet tall totem poles that decorated all food and beverage stations. The Welcome Reception was an amazing night of networking and mingling. Another extremely successful part of the HUPO 2015 social program was the “Hockey Night in Canada Congress Night”. Complete with a 3,000 square foot synthetic ice rink, the Vancouver Convention Centre East Building Ballrooms were magically transformed into a unique, once in a lifetime, Canadian hockey experience.
