The Modeling of Casting, Welding and Advanced Solidification Processes XII Conference took place Jun 7 to 14, 2009 and was attended by distinguished academics, engineers from industry and commercial software developers together for the purposes of presenting and showcasing new developments in the field of solidification modeling as it applies to casting and welding processes.

The conference venue was a 4-star cruise ship that departed from Vancouver as it traveled up the West Coast of British Columbia, through the US waters to Alaska before returning to Vancouver.

The cruise took the conference delegates through some of the most spectacular and unspoiled scenery in the world including the Straight of Georgia (BC), the Inside Passage (BC) and the Hubbard Glacier (Alaska).
